【Soilless cultivation】
Soilless cultivation refers to a cultivation method in which water, peat or forest humus soil, vermiculite and other media are used as a substrate for plant roots, and the roots of the plant can directly contact the nutrient solution. The composition of nutrient solution in soilless cultivation is easy to control and can be adjusted at any time. In places where the light and temperature are suitable and there is no soil, such as deserts, beaches, and desert islands, as long as there is a certain amount of fresh water supply, it can be done. Soilless cultivation is divided into hydroponics, fog (air) cultivation and substrate cultivation according to different cultivation media. Hydroponics is a cultivation method in which the root system of a plant is in direct contact with the nutrient solution without using a substrate. The earliest hydroponics was to immerse the plant roots in the nutrient solution to grow. In this way, hypoxia would occur, which would cause root death in severe cases. The hydroponic method of the nutrient solution film method is often used, even if a thin layer of nutrient solution is continuously circulated through the crop root system, which not only ensures the continuous supply of crop moisture and nutrients, but also the root system fresh oxygen.
